One Step Leads to Another

Don't you feel sometimes that as your trudging along through your life, that it is so easy to lose your feeling of purpose? Well, I do. It might be because, like me, you set your priorities in stone, and as you work, shop, cook, eat, sleep, and clean, you forget about the most important part of your life. The part where you feel, I mean really feel, like your alive! Why do we do that? Why do we forget to let our souls breathe? We make this and that and the other thing so important, and we don't give ourselves the permission to act like fools, and just BE the way we really feel inside. Children should be our teachers sometimes! They know how to live. We forget to celebrate our life, our purpose, our passion, our drive and our imagination. We just sort of lose our way.

Well, I don't want to do that! What fun is it to languish in the hum-drum? It isn't like you can't pick up where you left off. You once knew how to finger paint, and then run the paint down your apron, and on your cheeks. You once knew how to lick your fingers, as your ice cream cone melted down your hand. You remember. You can get up right now and do the thing that makes you feel like you can breathe. Whatever it is, you have to do it. You have to do it because nobody will tell you that it is that important. Only you can tell yourself.

So, I am making this little painting here, and I didn't know what it was going to be until I started working on it, and then it hit me on the head like a ton of bricks! ONE STEP LEADS TO ANOTHER. There are no leaps! There are steps, and sometimes steps turn into leaps but they start out as a step. We step off of a cliff, we step off of a ledge, we step onto a path, we step because it's a pace that makes us feel safe; from there, who knows? But it all starts with a step. I am thinking, why don't you step along with me? I'm serious. Go right now from your computer and start on something you really want to do. Start!

It's weird. I was thinking these things and putting my own preaching to practise and out of the blue, my daughter shows me what her new "project" is. She is going to make a thousand cranes! Yes, she is. She said her wish will come true after she makes a thousand. And, what do you know...it starts with a single step: Making the first crane. How interesting!!!

Steps. I think they are such special things.

What a wonderful reminder! Is there anything more important than living each moment to its fullest?
Thanks for the gentle nudge.

I got a notice in my box that my message failed, so I'll try again. If it's a duplicate just trash it.

Lovely work, all of them! And, a lovely and wondrous post! I needed to
hear it. It is my last stop of the blog visit day and I am off to work
and you have set the tone, if I can only hold onto it!

Wow, what a wonderful post! I enjoyed reading it and being inspired by what you wrote as much as by your pictures. Good for your daugher. Good for you. Sounds like creative goodness is a part of your family! :>
