How many of us are creating for the pleasure and joy of it, and how many of us are creating as a means of income? For many, it's both. A lot of us have to support or suppliment our income in order to contine doing our craft. Since times are tough now, I know that change is inevitable. Some of it might be good, but it isn't that good if we have to give up doing what we love most to do...and that is to create. I think tough economic times are going to be with us for a while. Yes, I said it out loud. That's why we have to keep our eye on the ball.
It really doesn't matter what might be going on in your life. Do your creative work anyway. You may not be able to find as much time to do it as before , but adjust your reasons for creating and make something, I don't know, maybe for yourself! Art doesn't have to be beautiful, pretty, cute, enchanting, sweet, and adorable...all the time! I think that keeping an art journal is perfect for staying in touch with your creative spirit. It can be raw. It can be nasty, it can be angry too.
I made this little painting for me yesterday. I think it's the first thing I've ever made specifically for myself. And, I started cracking up at this face when I finished it because I thought, well, she looks like I feel today!
So I hope we all stick together and share, and support, uplift, and encourage each other not to lose our creative touch stones. I think that especially for us women folk (no offense to the guys) we need our creative outlet.
Happy creating!!!

Your pin is beautiful. How nice to enjoy your own talents. Good for you for gifting yourself, I am about to do the same, I'm making myself a new purse soon :-)

Hi Zinnia,
Loved the painting!
In regards to your question about why we create, either for pleasure or for income? Well, in my case it's really both. I really enjoy creating my art dolls and paintings, but at the same time the extra money is great. It's hard to even get a little bit of time to myself and sit down in my studio to create, it seems that life just wants to suck you in with all of its dues.
But you're right, we should be able to make some time and get in the hang of things...even it it's just a small amount of time a day or even per week.
Thank you for sharing with us :)
Hugs...

Hi Zinna..
I enjoyed my visit here at your blog, I loved the girl with the tear in her hands, as women we need to share laughter and the tears as well encouragement that brings out the creativity in each of us. I love to write poetry and express my creativity that way and also through creative crafting!! I will be back to visit again.
