For my birthday I received a slew of fun art toys to play wiht. Some of the things I received are pictured here. I've been wanting to try out different mediums because I like to see what I can achieve with different types of pencils and paints. Funny thing is that old habits die hard.

So far I really like water color pencils, and I also like colored pencils. Here is what I quickly created today with colored pencils. I hope to keep expanding on them and then eventually I will begin adding backgrounds. I don't think I'm all that confident with acrylics, but I do like using them for highlights.

This drawing was made using the methods I learned in jewelry design school. I drew a lot of renderings that involved necklaces, rings, and gemstones. I always played with drawing little princesses though! My teacher used to roll her eyes when she saw a big rendering of a mermaid I drew while she was conducting class. Oh well...old habits die hard!!! Sorry teacher!

I absolutely can't wait to thank Vania of Vania's Art for this beautiful award. Vania has such lovely art, and she is definately a kindred soul! Please skip on over and pay her a visit too! Thank you Vania!!!

I've been so busy with spring break and the kids that I haven't had the time to do some of the assemblages I wanted to do this week, so I had a brainstorm. Draw! It has been so many years since I've penciled and doodled, but it started to come back to me. I had a sketchbook that I'd been meaning to use as a journal, and I've had the pencils and erasers. I realized how fun it is to let loose.

Try it too! Best part is, you can sit in bed, all warm under the covers, watching your favorite show at the same time. Can't beat that! I thought I'd share the ones I made last night. I still draw the same way I did years ago. I guess our style is our style. Try it for yourself...it's interesting to keep an art journal. Here are the ones I made last night.

I've got some projects finished...and boy will I have MORE! Finding time has been tough. Here is one of my latest assemblages. I created this entirely out of art board, and I really like how it allowed me to make everything to my own specifications. Well, enough of the analyzing...here it is

I really enjoyed gathering all the little bits and pieces for this.
