For my birthday this year I received the most special handmade gift from my dad. You have to understand that woodworking is one of his many talents, and he can build almost anything. When I was pregnant with my daughter, he built her a beautiful cradle. It was so special that I cried happy tears at it's unveiling. For my birthday this year my parents were coming from Vegas to visit, and my mom asked what I'd like. I told her how much I'd love a custom made art easel for my mixed media work. I wanted something solid, durable, and adjustable. But most important to me was that I wanted my dad to make it for me. He made me one when I was about 13 years old! It even had a light underneath it so that I could trace things too. How cool is that?

So, tonight is my first night using my easel. I totally cleaned and reorganized my workspace because the event is so special to me. I wanted to really take it in and enjoy. I'm off to finish the sketch you see on my new easel, and I'll be sure to share it with you when it's finished!
Thank you dad. You did it again! Love you!
