This week I've been working on some new techniques using transparencies to blend images. It is really a different approach giving in my opinion a more etheric look to the finished piece, inspiring what I hope has turned out to be an especially spiritual collage.
My favorite of all is the use of color. I just love adding color to these old photo's. Bringing life to old photo's is an eternally joyful experience for me. Especially when I get to work with photo's of children. A child's expression is timeless really. The smiles, the pouts, the quizical brows, these are all so adorable!
Recently, I've just had the opportunity to post more of my latest works on Etsy.com, so please stop by and take a look. It is a growing community and Etsy.com has a very good feedback system that allows both buyers and sellers the ability to leave their truthful impressions regarding the transaction. There are some wonderful things to find there too.

Many of us that do collage work rely on our inspiration to lead us into the creative process. A special customer of mine has a collection of beautiful vintage postcards that she sent to me to use for her personal collection. These original images are a special treat for me to work with, and I so enjoyed making these!
Debbie, thank you for giving me the wings to create this collection just for you!

Altered Art Collage Mini Tiles

These were wonderful to make. The challenge of doing a collage inside a miniature window of only 2" x 2" was appealing. I was hoping to find ways to create dimension and texture while working with a flat surface. It was also interesting to see how to make these little tiles so that they would hang. The whole collection was fun to make.

This has been such a busy time for me! Finally I have had a chance to complete several altered art projects, and more are on the way. My college classes have kept my schedule so full, and for this lady, in her fourties, I am juggling like crazy!
This little sweetie picutered here in my newest card, well she just touches my heart. How many countless times have we found ourselves teetering in our faith? Sometimes we completely fall flat and find ourselves in a sink-hole of despair. Other times we hold fast and allow our faith to keep us steady as we move forward with a new attitude, a new approach, a new point of view. The inspiration of this card comes from that moment of suspence where we open our hearts to something far greater than our fear....

Well...Goodie, Goodie! I have just been tagged by my sweetie pie Sam to play this loverly game called the "Name Game."
Here's the rules:
Players, you must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had. When you are tagged you need to write your own blog post containing your own middle name game facts. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog. I'll post my picks this evening!
Joanne
Megan
Lani
Mica
So here goes....Zinnia will have to do, because you will have to pull my middle name out of my stiff dead hand before I'll tell! Hee heee!
Z-I-N-N-I-A
Z is for Zoo. If there aren't enough animals in your life, come on over to my life, and you will have plenty. While we have only domestic animals such as a dog, several parakeets, fish, and frogs, I also have a child who wants to be a wildlife biologist. So, our bookshelves are lined with animal, bug, and reptile encyclopedias, we have an endless supply of animal documentaries in our DVD stash, and we have model dino's, sea-life, and reptiles all over the house. My eldest child volenteers at a wildlife rescue where she handles boa's and other large reptiles, parrots, and cockatoo's. I maintain all the credit for encouraging our family to love nature. So, if you like animals too you will like my house.
I is for Interested. I am interested in almost every subject as long as it isn't complaining. I make for a very good listener because I am interested in what people have to say, and what they think and feel about other interesting things. I don't like complaints unless it is the venting kind of complaints, which are the type that have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Emphasis on END.
N is for noise. I like chatter, sounds, music, the sounds of the kids talking to their friends, or the whispers they make when playing with their toys. I like the chatter of my birds, and the familiar noises at night like the train going by, the humming of the AC, and the sounds of an occassional car passing by the house.
N is for NEVER.There are some things that I will just never do. I will not harm another human being unless to protect myself or my family. I will never cheat a friend. I will never stop telling my kids I love them no matter what. I will never parachute out of an airplane. I will never attempt to reason with a toddler or a teenager. I will never clean the house when I am in the middle of a good art project. I will never promise my husband that I will not bring home another animal.
I is for Insomnia. Which I never have, and probably should have listed in my N word list.
A is for Art. I love art. I love to create it, appreciate it, study it, and share it.
